We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Victorian novelty bookmarks were small, decorative page markers crafted in imaginative shapes, such as trowels, daggers, or animals, reflecting the eras fascination with ornate and whimsical desk accessories.

These items were frequently crafted from sterling silver, often combined with organic materials such as mother-of-pearl, bone, or ivory for the handles, and detailed with hand-engraved motifs.

Authentic pieces usually feature British hallmarks stamped directly onto the metal, including a makers mark, standard mark indicating silver purity, city assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

An antique bookmark can be displayed resting on an open art book on a coffee table or incorporated into a curated tablescape within a home office or library setting.

Silver should be gently cleaned with a non-abrasive polishing cloth designed for precious metals, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage delicate organic inserts like mother-of-pearl.
