1920 - 1940
Sold 25 June 2025 · The Vintage Wrist Watch Company
This “1930s Record Full Hunter Pocket Watch” found a buyer.

It was listed by The Vintage Wrist Watch Company. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.

Description

1930s Record full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss 7-jewel stem-winding movement, signed Record, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some fairly light scratching from where it has been opened in the past.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model from the English watch case maker Aaron Dennison. The case is in good condition, just a little unevenness to the front and back.

The movement and case are not original to each other but of approximately the same age.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Date of Manufacture

The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this Vintage Gold Pocket Watch to the 1930s.

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A full hunter pocket watch features a spring-loaded metal cover that protects the glass dial face from scratches and damage when closed.

These timepieces were commonly constructed from gold, gold-plated metals, sterling silver, or base metal alloys, housing intricate brass and steel mechanical movements.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks inside the case back, checking the makers signature on the movement, and assessing the serial numbers against historical records.

A pocket watch can be displayed on a specialised desk stand, inside a glass cloche, or stored within a velvet-lined collector box on a bookshelf.

The watch should be wound gently at a consistent time each day, kept away from moisture and magnetic fields, and serviced periodically by a professional horologist.
