Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV period (1830-1837) bridges the Regency era and early Victorian design, characterised by robust classical proportions combined with increasingly ornate surface ornamentation and chased detailing.

These pieces typically combined heavy cut crystal or glass reservoirs with sterling silver, often finished with a gold wash (silver gilt or vermeil) to prevent corrosion from acidic iron gall ink.

Authentic pieces feature clear British hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, and makers mark, alongside hand-chased engraving and tightly engineered screw or hinged mechanisms designed to prevent leakage during travel.

Place the piece on an executive desk, bookshelf, or mantelpiece as a focal point of historical interest, pairing it with dark wood furniture and brass accents to create a curated study aesthetic.

Clean gently with a soft microfibre cloth to avoid abrading the thin layer of gold wash over the silver, and store away from high humidity and direct sunlight to prevent tarnishing.
