FAQs

Cage chandeliers originated in France during the 18th century, featuring a metal framework completely enveloped in glass drops, prisms, and pendeloques to maximise the reflection of candlelight.

Authentic period pieces typically utilise a wrought iron or bronze armature, hand-cut lead crystal or glass prisms, and brass wiring components in later adaptations.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the hand-cut facets of the glass, the manual casting marks on the metal frame, hand-wired connections using traditional pins, and natural signs of age and patina on the metal.

An antique chandelier serves as a focal point when hung above a dining table, in a high-ceilinged hallway, or contrasted against minimalist contemporary walls to add texture and historical depth.

Clean crystals individually using a mild solution of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol applied with a soft microfibre cloth, supporting each prism by hand to prevent strain on the metal pins.
