Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Italian gilded bronze chandeliers have a rich history rooted in the opulent workshops of Venice and Florence, where skilled artisans crafted elaborate lighting fixtures for palazzos and grand estates using cast bronze and fire-gilding techniques.

These fixtures typically feature a robust frame cast in bronze, which is then gilded to achieve a lustrous metallic finish, and are extensively adorned with cut crystal pendants, drops, and bead strands held together by wire linkages.

Authentic period pieces often exhibit hand-chased details on the metalwork, cast bronze construction rather than stamped sheet metal, hand-cut glass or crystal with subtle imperfections, and traditional assembly methods such as threaded pins and hexagonal nuts.

To integrate a grand traditional fixture into a contemporary setting, hang it in a minimalist room with high ceilings to create a striking focal point, allowing the historical craftsmanship to contrast with clean architectural lines.

Preserve the fixture by regularly dusting the crystal elements with a soft electrostatic wand, and clean the metal components periodically using a dry, lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh chemical sprays that could damage the delicate gilding.
