FAQs

Crab and lobster picks emerged as specialized dining implements during the Victorian period, when elaborate seafood courses became popular in upper-class dining culture.

Authentic period seafood picks are typically crafted from sterling silver or silver-plate, often featuring matching presentation boxes lined with silk and velvet.

Authenticity is determined by examining hallmark stamps for silver purity and makers marks, alongside assessing the craftsmanship and wear patterns consistent with age.

These pieces can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, incorporated into sophisticated tablescapes, or showcased in period presentation cases as conversation objects.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using specialized non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to preserve the patina and avoid damaging delicate hallmarks.
