A cased set of four George V silver crab picks, dating to 1928, sits inside a burgundy leatherette presentation box with a gold-tone clasp. The interior features a white silk-lined lid with gathered fabric and a navy velvet base fitted to hold each utensil. The solid silver picks measure 12.5 cm high, 1.5 cm wide, and 0.4 cm deep, each shaped with a double claw at one end and a concave scoop at the other. This fitted cutlery set adds an authentic touch of period dining to an English Country House interior. The box rests securely on a sideboard top during everyday use or formal dinners, serving as both a functional tool for shellfish and a decorative display piece. The silver elements show clear hallmarks, while the fitted case provides a protective home for storage when the picks are not in use.

Silver crab picks are specialised dining implements designed in the 19th and early 20th centuries to extract meat from crab legs, lobster claws, and other shellfish during formal dining courses.

These sets are typically forged from sterling silver or high-grade silver plate, featuring narrow prongs or small scoop ends, and are housed within velvet- and silk-lined presentation cases.

Authentic antique examples feature official silver hallmarks or makers marks denoting purity and origin, along with period construction details and custom fitted cases.

Display open presentation cases flat on a sideboard, within a glazed cabinet, or alongside barware to introduce historical interest to a dining space.

Clean the picks gently using a soft cloth and silver polish, avoiding harsh abrasive chemicals, and ensure they are thoroughly dried before storing inside their lined box.
