We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, frequently draws inspiration from earlier Georgian and Rococo revivals, characterised by lighter, more delicate ornamentation such as scrolls, fluting, and shell motifs compared to heavy Victorian pieces.

Pieces from this era are crafted from sterling silver, containing 925 parts per thousand of pure silver, and feature British hallmarks stamped by an assay office, which typically include the standard mark, city mark, date letter for the year, and makers mark.

Authenticity is verified through clear, matching hallmarks on both the silver pieces and their fitted presentation cases, alongside traditional manufacturing techniques such as hand-chasing, heavier gauge metal than modern reproductions, and period-appropriate velvet or silk velvet linings.

Antique cased sets can be displayed closed on a sideboard or open within a glazed cabinet to add historical texture, metallic sheen, and a sense of curated heritage to a modern dining space.

Sterling silver should be stored in tarnish-resistant flannel or kept in its original fitted case in a stable environment away from excessive humidity and direct sunlight, cleaning infrequently with a non-abrasive silver cloth only when necessary to preserve the patina.
