Opalescent glass is a type of glass that displays a milky, translucent appearance with characteristic blue or orange highlights when illuminated, heavily popularised by glassmakers during the Art Deco movement.

These pieces were typically produced using hot-moulding techniques where molten glass was pressed into metal moulds, followed by acid-etching, staining, or fire-polishing to accentuate the relief patterns.

Authenticity is generally verified through maker signatures or acid-etched marks on the base, combined with the characteristic weight, mould seams, and the distinct optical play of opalescence.

Placed centrally on a sideboard or coffee table without additional clutter, it allows natural light to interact with the reflective surfaces and opalescent tones.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent with a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature changes.
