Art Deco design, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by sleek geometric forms, streamlined silhouettes, and a lavish use of materials such as sterling silver and vibrant coloured enamels.

These dressing table items were typically constructed from sterling silver, often featuring engine-turned guilloche enamel work, fitted with a leather base pad for polishing nails.

Authentication involves examining silver hallmarks for assay office stamps and dates, checking the precision of the engine-turned guilloche pattern beneath translucent enamel, and inspecting for period-appropriate wear and construction techniques.

Such decorative objects add a pop of colour and historical texture when displayed on a dressing table, tray, or open shelving unit alongside modern minimalist decor.

Silver components should be carefully polished with a non-abrasive cloth avoiding the enamel surface, while the enamel itself requires only gentle wiping with a soft, damp cloth to prevent scratching or moisture damage.
