Early 18th-century candlesticks typically feature distinct turned stems, heavy cast construction, and stepped or square bases reflecting the transition from earlier baroque influences towards simpler classical proportions.

These pieces were commonly produced from yellow brass alloy using the sand-casting method, followed by hand-finishing on a lathe to refine the turned profiles and details.

Authenticity is indicated by casting flaws, file marks from hand-finishing, appropriate patination, and multipart construction where the stem is securely fitted to the base.

Placing an antique brass candlestick on a mantelpiece or sideboard introduces metallic warmth and historical contrast to clean-lined modern spaces.

Preserve the original surface by dusting with a dry microfiber cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that strip historical patination.
