Victorian Scottish pebble jewellery, popularised by Queen Victorias affinity for Balmoral, features native stones such as agate, jasper, and bloodstone set in silver or gold mounts, often reflecting Celtic revival motifs.

These pieces traditionally utilise hardstones native to Scotland, including various colours of chalcedony, banded agate, bloodstone, and jasper, mounted in engraved or chased yellow gold.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate tubular hinges, C-clasps, tightly fitted lapidary work with bevelled stones, and often hollow-formed or low-carat gold construction characteristic of the 19th century.

An antique brooch can be worn pinned to the lapel of a tailored blazer, fastened at the neckline of a minimalist blouse, or used to secure a woollen scarf for a sophisticated heritage touch.

Agate and quartz-family stones are relatively durable, but they should be cleaned gently with a soft, dry cloth and stored away from other hard pieces to prevent scratching the gold mount or lapidary work.
