This mid nineteenth-century Victorian gout stool dates from around 1850. It takes the form of an angled, upholstered seat with a scroll back mounted on a walnut frame. The piece features a rich warm brown timber tone, blue fabric upholstery, and decorative brass stud detailing along the lower edge. Four turned wooden legs support the structure, finishing in gilt brass cups and castors. The seat lifts on an adjustable easel support ratchet mechanism, and the maker’s stamp \u201cI Parris\u201d is marked onto the seat frame.
