Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Georgian bureau emerged during the 18th century in Britain, combining a sloping fall-front writing surface with functional storage drawers beneath and fitted pigeonholes inside, reflecting the eras growing emphasis on private correspondence and record-keeping.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or oak timbers, often featuring fine veneers, hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, brass swing handles, and internal secret compartments.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber shrinkage, hand-forged or cast brass hardware, irregular dovetail patterns indicating manual construction, and the overall patina developed through centuries of use.

This piece works well as a functional writing station in a home office or living room, offering classic warmth that contrasts effectively against neutral modern walls and contemporary seating.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the polished surface.
