This nineteenth-century vernacular country stool is a solid slice of elm with a dark brown timber finish and a tripod base of three branch legs. The top consists of a single piece of wood cut flat with a live edge and an uneven shape, possessing a smooth surface with a visible natural patina. One of the structural branch legs shows a twisted formation created by vines growing around the wood during its development, adding an organic natural shape to the piece. It measures 44 cm high, 41 cm wide, and 23 cm deep in size. In a modern home, this rustic farmhouse item serves as an occasional seat or an end table positioned next to a sofa. The sturdy three-legged design stands firmly on wooden floors, bringing traditional craftsmanship and natural materials into living spaces, hallways, or rustic interiors.

A live edge elm stool is a piece of utilitarian or occasional furniture crafted from a solid slab of elm wood, retaining the natural contours and bark edge of the original tree slice.

Traditional rustic stools were constructed using joinery where turned or natural branch legs were fitted directly into mortise holes bored into the underside of a thick timber seat.

Authentic examples feature organic grain patterns, natural shape irregularities, hand-worked undersides, and wedged tenon joinery visible on the seat or leg junctions.

This piece functions as an occasional side table beside a sofa, a sculptural plant pedestal, or a compact accent in a reading nook to introduce natural texture.

Position the stool away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage, clean with a dry lint-free cloth, and treat periodically with natural wax polish to protect the finish.
