Edwardian silver candlesticks, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often reflected a revival of earlier classical styles such as Georgian and Neoclassical designs, combined with refined manufacturing techniques.

These items are typically constructed from sterling silver, often weighted at the base with a resin or wooden core combined with a loaded metal plate to provide stability and balance.

Authenticity is verified through British hallmarks stamped into the metal, which include the makers mark, the standard mark for sterling silver, the town mark indicating the assay office, and the date letter corresponding to the year of assay.

They can be integrated into contemporary schemes by placing them on dining tables, mantelpieces, or sideboards to introduce reflective metallic textures and a sense of historic craftsmanship.

Preservation involves regular, gentle cleaning with a specialised silver cloth or non-abrasive polish to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage weighted bases and historical patination.
