Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco design, prominent from the 1920s to the 1930s, is characterised by sleek geometric forms, clean lines, and a synthesis of traditional craftsmanship with industrial materials like machine-turned metals and vitreous enamels.

Guilloche involves a precision mechanical engraving technique used to cut intricate geometric patterns into a base metal, typically silver, which is then coated with translucent coloured enamel to allow the patterned reflections to show through.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks indicating the metal purity, makers mark, assay office, and date letter, alongside examining the hand-applied enamel for age-appropriate micro-crazing and consistent integration with the silver mount.

This functional decorative object can be displayed flat upon a leather-bound blotter, stacked atop coffee table art books, or positioned centrally on an office desk to add a touch of period elegance and texture.

Enamel is sensitive to harsh chemicals and abrasives, so cleaning should be restricted to gentle dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and careful, infrequent polishing of the exposed silver portions using a non-abrasive silver cloth.
