Completeness does most of the work. A matched pair sits at the top, a single complete frame below it, and a lone headboard or bed end at the bottom, including Deco cloud-shaped and burr walnut headboards sold as pairs of panels only. Frames offered with their original sprung base, ticking base or side irons read above bare frames.
Attribution lifts a bed. Seventeen titles say the frame is labelled, most of them oak, and named workshops and retailers cluster at the middle and upper end of the sampled range. After that it's decoration and width.
