Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of 1900 industrial single beds is constructed from iron and steel with a slate blue hand-painted finish and a soft wax sheen. Each bed has a tubular frame, high headboards with vertical spindles, rounded corners, cast joinery, and turned spherical finials on the posts. They are sturdy, long-lasting utility pieces that can be joined together to create an occasional king-size width bed, and the side rails are adapted to take wood slats or a bed base. The dimensions are 108 cm high, 78.5 cm wide, and 201 cm deep. These versatile single beds suit a guest bedroom, a child's bedroom, or a dormitory setting, functioning individually or united as one larger sleeping arrangement. The industrial style complements modern loft apartments, period townhouses, and contemporary country homes alike. The restored frames provide a durable and practical sleeping solution for everyday domestic use, offering a clean aesthetic that pairs easily with various bedding styles and room colour schemes.

FAQs

Utilitarian iron single beds emerged in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, produced primarily for institutions such as dormitories, hospitals, and military barracks due to their durability and hygienic properties.

These bedsteads were typically constructed from tubular steel or wrought iron, held together with heavy cast iron joinery and finished with durable enamel or paint to protect against wear and rust.

Authentic pieces feature heavy metal construction, hand-poured corner sockets, simple vertical spindle arrangements, and evidence of layered historic paint rather than modern lightweight powder coating.

A pair of iron single beds works well in a guest room or childrens bedroom, styled with crisp linen, neutral textiles, and warm timber accents to balance the industrial metal structure.

Clean the metal frames using a dry or lightly damp microfibre cloth to remove dust. To prevent oxidisation on exposed metal areas, apply a thin layer of microcrystalline wax.
