The Fancy Fox has dated this piece to the 1920s.
An attractive family crest engraved to the top of a rampant lion holding a sun in his paws above the motto "In Solo Deo Salus" (in God alone is our salvation). Hallmarked to the reverse and inside the cover for London 1925, makers The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd and retailed by them, a further retailer mark to the base.
It measures 9cm (3 1/2") high, 14cm (5 1/2") wide and 10.2cm (4") deep. It weighs a substantial 259g / 8.3ozt.
In excellent condition; no damage, dents or repairs and nice and clean inside.
