Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Coral jewellery achieved immense popularity during the Victorian era, particularly following the Italian Grand Tour trend where travelers collected Mediterranean coral as souvenirs. Artisans carved the material into intricate botanical forms, classical motifs, and elongated drops, mounting them in yellow gold wirework settings.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces typically pair natural organic coral with yellow gold, ranging from 9ct to 18ct purity. The coral was carved by hand into beads, cabochons, or torpedo shapes, and held using wire-wrapped fittings or claw settings.

Authentic antique coral exhibits subtle natural grain variations and minor surface irregularities visible under magnification, unlike smooth synthetic imitations. Additionally, look for period-appropriate hand-formed wire ear hooks and traditional gold hallmarks or acid test verification.

Antique coral drop earrings provide a warm accent against neutral contemporary clothing such as crisp white shirts, dark tailoring, or evening dresses. The vibrant orange-red hue pairs particularly well with warm earth tones, deep navy, and black.

Coral is an organic material sensitive to chemicals, heat, and moisture. Clean gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and avoid exposure to hairsprays, perfumes, and water; store the pieces flat in a fabric-lined box away from direct light.
