Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Domed top chests were traditionally utilised for domestic storage, with the curved lid designed to prevent moisture accumulation on the surface. These pieces formed essential furniture in rural homes for housing textiles, blankets, and personal belongings.

Authentic period chests are constructed from solid softwood timbers such as Scots pine or deal, frequently featuring handcrafted dovetail joints at the corners and forged iron carrying handles for durability.

Authenticity is determined by examining the timber patina, hand-cut dovetail joinery, forged iron hardware, and tool marks indicating hand-planing, distinguishing genuine period items from modern reproductions.

An antique pine chest functions effectively as an occasional table or functional storage piece at the foot of a bed or within a hallway, adding warmth and historical texture to minimalist schemes.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and occasionally treating the timber with traditional beeswax to nourish the wood without damaging the historic finish.
