Technical Description

A fine 19th century green glass engraved decanter. Mell form with a wonderful narrow elegant neck and engraved with a fruiting vine around the main body. Polished pontil.

Date & Origin

England, c1830. Period of William IV.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration, clean and clear.

Dimensions

Height: 22cm Diameter: 17.5cm.

Historical Context

Hand-blown around the time McVitie's was founded as McVitie & Price's biscuit bakery in Edinburgh.
