Sinclairs Antiques and Interiors has dated this Victorian Rosewood Writing Desk to the Victorian era.
The cabinets have elegant, pierced brass galleries and glazed doors which open to a velvet lined interior with removable shelf. The fall front decorated with more of the fantastic marquetry inlay, opens to an original leather inset writing surface and an interior fitted with 3 waterfall drawers, pigeonholes and a sliding well, that opens to reveal storage space. Raised on elegant cabriole legs and ormolu to the hip and terminating in decorative sabots and attractively shaped carved apron again decorated with marquetry inlay. There is some foxing to the mirror and the leather writing surface does show signs of wear however these imperfections only add to the character and charm of this little piece of history.
