Technical DescriptionAn engraved Georgian glass toddy lifter dating to c1820. It has a slice cut neck with an annulated knop neck ring with long slice cuts down to the reservoir at the base. The slice cuts on one side have been engraved with a large Cat or Panther.A Toddy Lifter is used to transpose alcohol from a Serving Rummer or Punch Bowl held in the centre of the table into your glass. You place the toddy lifter into the liquid and let the reservoir at the base fill. Place you finger over the small hole at the top and move to the glass and release, emptying the contents into the glass.This Toddy Lifter comes from the Michael Wallis Toddy Lifter collection put together over a 45 year period.
