Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. This rare Italian barware piece from c.1940 takes the form of a bullet-shaped cocktail shaker in the Art Deco style, constructed from silver-plated metal and brass with a polished silver exterior finish and contrasting gold-plated metal bands. The two-component body incorporates a rotating recipe dial, ingredient windows, and a pointed finial top. The surface displays reflective sheen and gold-toned metal detailing around the middle section and lower stepped windows. Measurements are 24.8 cm high, 9.5 cm wide, and 9.5 cm deep. Suitable for display in a modern living space, this decorative bar accessory sits on a sideboard top or home bar counter, providing a functional conversation starter for entertaining guests. The design coordinates with mid-century or retro interior schemes, adding metallic contrast and vintage character to a drinks trolley or shelving unit.

FAQs

Mechanical and novelty cocktail shakers emerged during the Art Deco era of the late 1920s through the 1940s. Sleek aerodynamic shapes, such as rockets and bullets, captured the modern industrial movement, while built-in recipe dials provided practical mixology measurements for home entertaining.

Mid-century cocktail shakers were predominantly crafted from silver-plated brass, nickel plate, or stainless steel. Internal dials and accent details often incorporated gilded brass or contrasting metals to highlight cocktail names and liquid measurements.

Authentic period shakers generally exhibit makers stamps or country of origin marks on the base. They feature substantial weight, precision-engineered metal cut-outs, smooth rotation mechanisms, and period-specific font typography on the ingredient dials.

Position the shaker on a lacquered tray, dark timber sideboard, or metal bar cart alongside crystal glassware and antique decanters. Polished metal pieces add a sculptural, reflective element to modern living spaces and dining rooms.

Wash gently by hand using mild soapy water and a non-abrasive soft cloth, avoiding prolonged immersion to protect internal mechanics. Apply a specialist silver polish periodically with a flannel cloth to prevent tarnish and preserve the original luster.
