An Edwardian fruit knife is a small, folding pocket knife produced during the Edwardian era, typically featuring a sterling silver blade and decorative handle materials such as mother-of-pearl, designed specifically for peeling and slicing fruit at the dining table.

These utensils traditionally combined a sterling silver blade with handles crafted from mother-of-pearl, ivory, bone, or exotic hardwoods, often accented with engraved metal liners and bolsters.

Authenticity is determined by checking for official British hallmarks stamped on the blade or handle, indicating the assay office, silver standard, and year of manufacture, alongside period-appropriate construction techniques and wear.

Antique pocket knives and small implements are frequently displayed in shallow glass-topped table cases, mounted in shadow boxes, or styled within wooden collectors cabinets to highlight their fine craftsmanship.

Preservation requires storing items in a dry, temperature-controlled environment away from direct sunlight, cleaning silver sparingly with a non-abrasive polish, and avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture to protect organic handle materials.
