Technical Description
 
A very rare example of an 18th century Multi Spiral Opaque Twist wine glass.
 
It has a long Ogee bowl above a multi spiral opaque twist stem with a central swelling knop. Sits on a conical folded foot.
 
MSOT are by far the rarest of all opaque twist stems and are classified as a single series. The Folded Foot on the opaque twist form is exceptionally rare with approx only 1 in 100 opaque twists having a folded foot.
 
Date & Origin
 
England, c1750. Period of George II.
 
Condition
 
Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration.

Comments
 
This glass comes from the Michael Wallis collection which took over 45 years to build and contains over 250 drinking glasses, covering all forms from the 18th century, many exceptionally rare. They will all be presented by Exhibit over the coming weeks and months.
