Technical Description

An 19th-century engraved half pint glass tankard dating to c1840

It has an applied strap handle with hops and barley engraved around the tapered bowl with the initials ETH engraved within a central cartouche. Moulded base with polished pontil.

Date & Origin

England, c1820. Period of George IV.

Condition

Excellent, no chips cracks or restoration

Dimensions

Height: 10.3cm, Rim diameter: 8.5cm, Foot diameter: 7.2cm

Comments

This glass comes from the Michael Wallis collection which took over 45 years to build and contains over 250 drinking glasses, covering all forms from the 18th century, many exceptionally rare. They will all be presented by Exhibit over the coming weeks and months.
