Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 1920s and 1930s, flexible gooseneck lamps feature a spiral-wound metal hose arm that allows directional movement for task lighting. These lamps became standard fixtures in modern offices, architectural studios, and homes during the Art Deco era.

Lamps from this era were primarily constructed from solid brass, steel, or copper, often featuring heavy cast iron weights inside the base for stability. The flexible tubing comprised coiled metal over an inner support core, paired with spun metal shades designed to direct light downwards.

Authentic period examples feature period-correct bulb holders, cast iron counterweights inside the base plate, and aged brass or nickel surfaces. Look for spiralled flexible hose arms, integrated base switches, and historical wiring exit points near the base rim.

A vintage brass task lamp adds warm metallic tones and functional elegance when placed on a modern office desk, side table, or bedside nightstand. Pair it with dark timber surfaces, leather accessories, or minimalist joinery to create a balanced contrast.

Clean polished brass using a soft dry microfibre cloth to remove dust and fingerprints without stripping the surface finish. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners, and ensure the internal electrical components and flexible tubing are periodically inspected by a qualified electrician.
