Description

Technical Description

A fantastic Georgian Coin Glass Rummer dating to c1820. It has a large bucket bowl engraved with barley, Scottish thistles, roses, and a central cartouche bearing the monogram 'JD'. Sits on a hollow ball knop stem containing a George IV silver coin dated 1820. Conical terraced foot with polished pontil.

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time the Aaron Manby (The first iron steamship to go to sea) was completed in April 1822.
