Technical Description

A wonderful 17th Century Facon De Venise wine glass dating to c1670.

It has flared bell bowl above twin merese and a spirally moulded baluster knop with further smaller knops below. Conical thin folded foot.

Excellent, no chips cracks, or restoration.

Historical Context

On June 1st, 1670, at Dover, Charles II of England and Louis XIV of France sign the Secret Treaty of Dover, ending hostilities between their kingdoms on the agreement that Louis will give Charles 200,000 pounds annually...an astronomical sum of money at that time.
