Technical Description
A fantastic set of three amethyst glass serving bottles dating to around 1830. Copper/white metal and cork stoppers. Very unusual string rims and large polished pontils.
Comments
Holding approx 1 full modern bottle of wine each, these make superb serving bottles / decanters for the larger dinner party, or simply as a decorative set for the kitchen window. Sets of three are exceptionally rare and it''s been four years since we last had a pair.
Date & Origin
England, c1830. Period of Victoria.
Condition
Excellent, no chips cracks, or restoration. Two of the stoppers have parts of the cork missing (see pictures), however, serving bottles from this period, as a general rule, didn''t have stoppers, so they are additions from the same period...and we think they look very elegant. No major scratches and clean and clear interrnally.
