FAQs

Tea strainers became essential dining accessories during the 18th and 19th centuries as loose-leaf tea gained popularity, evolving into sophisticated forms with matching drip bowls by the mid-20th century.

These items are crafted from solid silver, often sterling standard, utilizing traditional silversmithing techniques such as stamping, piercing for the strainer holes, and soldering.

Authenticity is verified through hallmark stamps on the metal, which typically include the makers mark, town assay office symbol, and date letter.

It can be displayed on a sideboard, bar cart, or open shelving as part of a curated collection of polished metalware.

Regular polishing with a specialized silver cloth prevents tarnish build-up, and items should be stored in a dry environment away from direct sunlight.
