Technical Description

A superb well-cut Irish Waterford glass fruit bowl and stand with Fan Scalloped cutting above cross-cut diamonds and prism cuts. Polished pontil. The stand has identical cutting.

Date & Origin

Ireland, c1840. Period of George IV.

Condition

Very good. A few minor nibbles as expected. No cracks.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time Austins of Derry was established in Northern Ireland. At its closure in 2016, it remained the world's oldest independent department store.
