Technical Description
An excellent example of an 18th century ale glass, with petal moulding to the lower bowl which continues down into the shoulder knop. Stands on a conical foot with a rough pontil.

England, c1780. Period of George III.
Condition
Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 14.2cm Rim Diameter: 5,7cm Foot Diameter: 5.8cm.
Historical Relevance
The heavy lead glass and deep hue are indicative of its origin and period. Hand-blown around the time South Carolina became the first state to ratify the Articles of Confederation, and around the death of Captain James Cook on the 14th of February 1779.
