A rare 17th Century Oak Coffer with coloured front, of good overall colour and in good original condition.
Thought to be from a small group of coffers made in Dorset around Circa 1655.
The panels are carved with Tulips.
Interestingly there is an Antique dealers label on the back, possibly victorian, it appears to refer to a premises on Portland Street in London.
An image of an identical example can be seen in the Victor Chinnery book,
Oak Furniture The British Tradition.
