Engraved Georgian Petal Moulded Monteith Or Bonnet Glass C1760

Technical Description
 
An exceptional 18th century bonnet glass with a festoon engraved rim and petal moulding which continues down into the rudimentary stem. Conical foot with a snapped pontil. Unusual to find a petal moulded or engraved example.
 
Comments
 
A very popular glass from the 18th century, the most common examples having full diamond or honeycomb moulding. Very occasionally you come across an example that has a little more...something different...in this case an engraved rim and fine sharp petal moulding to the lower bowl section and stem.
 
The only other petal moulded and engraved example we could find was in the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia.

Excellent, no chips cracks or restoration
