Technical Description A very impressive 18th-century wine glass. It has a round funnel bowl engraved with a stylized rose and two smaller flowers with a jaybird looking back. Sits on a single series opaque twist stem consisting of a multiply corkscrew. Conical foot with a snapped pontil. An excellent Jacobite Sympathy example, the standard six-petalled rose with two buds being replaced by a very unusual stylized wild rose with two small flowers, one on either side. The Jay is purported to be a symbol of the usurpation of the Stuart Kings, the wild rose referring to fertility being restored again and the white rose of the Stuarts.
