Technical Description
A 19th century amber glass decanter. Mell form with a tapering neck and a squat body. A polished pontil completes the piece. This form almost always had cork stoppers.
You certainly don''t find many amber examples from this period. It was almost certainly because it wasn''t a popular colour, (compared to Green and Blue) and therefore they didn''t make as many...which is why they are as rare today.

Hand-blown around the time the first portion of Southend Pier was completed in 1830.
