A very smart oval picture frame made from French silver bearing the Minerva silver guarantee mark in two places. The makers mark is also present for Emile Langlois of 67 rue Montorgueil, Paris. This mark was used between 1888 and 1924, I would expect this example to have been made c.1910.
The silver is guilloche or engine-turned decorated and mounted with a very regal coronet, I believe this one for a Baron or Baroness.
The rear is quite splendid with the all original leather covered backing and folding easel stand.
Excellent condition measuring 9 3/4'' x 8 3/8'' x 1'' with a glazed aperture measuring 8 3/4'' x 7 3/8''.
