John Howkins Antiques has dated this George III Satinwood Desk to the 1800s.
The domed top housing a useful drawer with lions head pulls and each corner having well carved finials. The tambour is in excellent condition, runs freely and opens to reveal a very attractive interior consisting of 4 mahogany lined drawers, 6 pigeonholes, small central cupboard and pull out writing slide with tooled leather and 5 dummy drawers. The 2 drawers have silvered ring pulls above the 2 concave doors which have attractive oval inlaid panels and flanked by finely reeded columns with decorated capitols and turned feet. The whole in very good condition with a couple of old shrinkage repairs to the back and side which are visible in the photos. Dimensions:- Height…41.5’’/105.5cm. Width…24.25’’/ 61.5cm. Depth…19’’/ 48cm. Knee Height…27.25’’/ 69cm.
