Technical Description

A tall 18th-century air twist ale glass. It has a long flared bell bowl above a multi spiral air twist stem with two swelling knops. Conical foot with a snapped pontil.

An outstanding example. If you look very carefully at the bowl picture at around 7 o''clock you will see a tiny pinprick which is a tooth mark and quiet common on 18th-century glasses. It''s totally insignificant and part of the wear expected on glass 250 years old. It has its original Phillips Auction House sticker on the underside of the foot.

A rare form and well over 5 years since we last had an example like this.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time of the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion, led by Charles Edward Stuart.
