Antique Georgian Silver 7-Bottle Cruet 1813

Description

This is a wonderful cruet set which has survived intact for over 200 years.

Dating from the reign of George III, it retains the original set of bottles. All the silver pieces have matching hallmarks for London 1813, with the maker's mark of Abstinando King. with the exception of the mustard spoon, which is even older (1791) and which carries a different maker's mark.

The stand is free of engravings and is decorated with shells and leaves on the handle, the protruding lips of the rim and also the feet. There is a small amount of damage on the stand - a triangular piece of silver missing from the bottle holder, as can be seen in the photographs. The bottles all match and are again in wonderful condition. Two of the stoppers are missing pieces at the bottom - a common area of damage in cruet sets - but the missing pieces cannot be seen when the stoppers are in their bottles.
