Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Oversized advertising wine and champagne bottles, often called factices or dummy bottles, were produced throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries for commercial visual merchandising. Wine merchants, restaurants, and pubs placed them in windows or behind bars to promote specific vintages and brands without risking real liquid to light damage or theft.

These display items were predominantly crafted from thick molded green or amber glass, capped with metal foil or painted plaster necks. The paper labels were printed using lithographic techniques to replicate official winery labels, while the interiors remained empty or were weighted with inert materials.

Authentic period examples feature original paper labels with age-appropriate wear, natural oxidisation on foil caps, and heavy glass construction. Many pieces also carry embossed maker marks on the base or explicitly state Factice or Dummy on the reverse label or underside.

Large display bottles add height and graphic interest to home bars, sideboards, or kitchen shelving units. They function exceptionally well grouped in varying scales alongside brass bar accessories, dark timber, or rustic brickwork.

Dust the glass surfaces gently with a soft microfiber cloth while avoiding direct contact with paper labels. Never submerge the bottle in water or use liquid solvents, as moisture will cause original paper labels to lift, tear, or discolour.
