Technical Description
 
An 18th century opaque twist wine glass with an Ogee bowl. The bowl has rib moulding to the lower half and sits on a double series opaque twist wine stem consisting of an 11-ply spiral band outside two pairs of spiral threads. Conical foot with snapped pontil.
 
Historical Relevance
 
This glass was made around the time that the English parliament enacted the Stamp Act on the American colonies, March 22nd 1765, imposing a tax on many types of printed materials used in the colonies. Seen as a violation of rights, the Act sparks violent demonstrations in several Colonies.
