Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A glazed bookcase on cupboard is a two-part traditional furniture piece featuring an upper cabinet with glass doors for storage or display and a solid lower cabinet for concealed storage. These designs gained widespread popularity during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries across Europe.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised solid timbers such as mahogany, oak, and walnut, often applying decorative flame veneers to front panels. Glass panes were fitted into timber frames, complemented by brass locks and turned wooden feet.

Original pieces typically exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, period-appropriate brass hardware, natural timber shrinkage along the backboards, and hand-blown glass showing subtle distortion or air bubbles.

Position the piece as a focal point in a dining room, study, or hallway, filling the upper shelves with curated books, ceramics, or decorative objects while utilizing the lower base for closed storage.

Dust the woodwork regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to nourish the timber. Clean the glass with a dedicated glass cleaner applied directly to a cloth rather than sprayed onto the wood.
