Technical Description
A superb 18th-century opaque twist wine glass. A bell bowl above a double series opaque twist stem with three swelling knops. The stem consists of two pairs of 3-ply spiral bands outside a gauze. A conical foot with a rough pontil.
Historical Relevance
It is worth remembering that this was the pre-internet days and finding 18th-century glass was far more difficult than it is today. A triple knop opaque twist would be a fantastic find and even today, good English lead example are not something you will find on a regular basis.
In a historical context, this glass was hand-blown around the time George III became King of Great Britain on the 23rd of October 1760.
