Technical Description
 
A very fine example of a single series 18th century wine glass. It has a round funnel bowl above an opaque twist stem consisting of a pair of multiply corkscrews. The multi-ply''s have a solid section at the core but are part of the same element and therefore the classification has to be single series. A conical foot with a rough pontil.
 
Historical Relevance
 
Although standard multi-ply corkscrews are common enough within opaque twist stems, the solid section at their core marks this particular example out as being just that little bit different. Although they are often seen with solid edges, I can''t recall having very many of them in the past with solid cores. Scott Falk probably knew that this was a special glass withing his collection and we would agree... a very fine exampl...
