France c1900. Period of the French Third Republic.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 13.2cm Diameter: 15.8cm.

Technical Description

A Galle cameo fougeres vase. The three-colour body is decorated with ferns using the cameo cut-back technique. Marked Galle on the body with the exception of the star dating this piece to before Galle's death in 1904.

Historical Relevance

Handcrafted around the time a car speed record of 74 mph was set in Nice, by Leon Serpollet.
